All values come from the item tooltips on BianKO's exchange and mob pages (Defense Ability, the Required lines, Max Durability). Chitin Shell and Complete say 'Item Grade : high Class'; Chitin and Crimson say 'middle Class'. Where the set drops is covered in a separate guide; this one is only about what each + level gets you.

The gain is the same for every class: two levels add 8 to the pauldron/robe and pads/pants, 6 to the helmet and 4 to gauntlets and boots. Only the starting values differ. The site has no +5 Complete Robe, so the mage set's +5 total can't be worked out, though the other four Complete pieces exist at +5.

A +4 version shows up for two sets only. Priest Chitin Shell (+4) has 131 on the pauldron, 107 pads, 81 helmet and 54 on gauntlets and boots, 427 in total. Complete (+4) has 84 pants, 63 helmet and 42 gloves and boots; there's no +4 Complete Robe either.

On the warrior and rogue sets only the main stat (STR or DEX) climbs; the Health requirement stays put. The priest set raises both STR and INT by 4 per step. Complete shows the same requirement at +1, +3 and +5, so upgrading a mage set never raises the stat bar. A +5 warrior pauldron needs 184 STR, 8 more than the +1.

Durability also rises by 2,000 every two levels: warrior Chitin Shell 15,625 / 17,625 / 19,625, rogue and priest 10,937 / 12,937 / 14,937, Complete 7,812 / 9,812 / 11,812. Weight doesn't change with the + level (the warrior pauldron stays at 18.00).

The Chitin (+3) set that mobs drop still trails Chitin Shell (+1): 462 vs 477 for warriors, 329 vs 334 for rogues, 374 vs 382 for priests. On the mage side Crimson (+3) and Complete (+1) tie at 287, and Crimson (+5) ties Complete (+3) at 317. The site has no +5 record for the warrior or rogue Chitin set.

How to get +3 and +5

  • +3 Chitin Shell / Complete: in Fragment of Avarice, Jealousy, Lechery and Sloth.
  • +5 Chitin Shell / Complete: in Dark Fragment of Pride, Gluttony, Envy and Greed, 0.011% per piece.
  • +4 Priest Chitin Shell: in Random Item Exchange Gem and the Golden Star / Red Bow / Tinsel Ornament box; +4 Complete only in the Ornament box.
  • By upgrading: BianKO's upgrade page gives Blessed Upgrade Scroll 100% for +1→+2 and +2→+3, 95% for +3→+4 and 70% for +4→+5. Upgrade Scroll ('low, middle and high class items up to 5') gives 90%, 50%, 40% and 20% for the same steps.

The percentages in the exchange boxes don't add up to 100%, so read them as relative odds.

How much defense does a +5 Chitin Shell pauldron have?
165 for warriors, 120 for rogues and 135 for priests. There's no +5 Complete Robe listed on the site.
What do I gain going from +1 to +5 on a full Chitin Shell set?
60 defense on the warrior, rogue and priest sets. In exchange, warriors and rogues need 8 more points of their main stat.
Does Complete need more INT as you upgrade it?
No. The Complete tooltips show the same INT and Magic Power requirement at +1, +3 and +5.
Is Chitin Shell high Class?
